What can a neck lift treat?

As you age, you may find that your neck sags and leaves you with a double chin or turkey neck appearance. Fortunately, these common issues are treatable. Undergoing a neck lift can treat and resolve:

How does a doctor perform a neck lift?

In most cases, Dr. Folk can perform a neck lift with sedation and local anesthesia, although general anesthesia is sometimes necessary. During your neck lift procedure, Dr. Folk makes small incisions under your chin and behind your ears. 

He uses liposuction techniques to remove fatty buildups along your jawline and beneath your chin. Dr. Folk can perform a fat transfer or place facial implants to add contouring where needed to enhance your features. You can typically return home the same day as your neck lift procedure. 

What is the recovery like after a neck lift?

After your neck lift procedure, Dr. Folk places a special garment around your head to compress your neck and chin. This helps reduce swelling. For the first several days, it’s important to keep your head elevated. Dr. Folk may recommend sleeping in a recliner or propping up your head with several pillows.

Swelling and bruising are common for the first few weeks, depending on the extent of your neck lift procedure. But in most cases, incision lines are almost completely faded by the six-month mark.
