Botox Q&A

What are neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators are a specialized class of injectables that includes Botox, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau®. These clinically tested injections contain purified strains of a particular form of botulinum toxin in a sterile solution.

Upon injection, neuromodulators quickly start blocking certain signals that lead to constant muscle movements. These targeted muscles are known to make your skin fold and crease. As you age and as collagen production slows down, those folds and creases lead to dramatic lines and wrinkles. Neuromodulators prevent these effects.

What can Botox treat?

At Visage Surgical, you meet directly with Dr. Folk, who’s a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon. He appreciates the delicate balance between eliminating unwanted facial wrinkles and preserving individual facial expressions — no need to worry about a frozen look.

Dr. Folk offers personalized Botox and other neuromodulator plans to minimize the appearance of:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Bunny lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Under eye wrinkles

Dr. Folk has intimate expert knowledge of facial anatomy and underlying structures. He also offers micro-Botox injections, which can treat lower face and neck issues, such as a gummy smile and Platysma bands. Dr. Folk can even use Botox to help with a masseter reduction to soften your jawline.

When does Botox wear off?

Botox and other popular neuromodulators like Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau, are extremely long-lasting. Dr. Folk finds that his patients experience optimal results for about three or four months before injections gradually start wearing off.

In certain areas where there isn’t as much muscle activity, neuromodulators tend to last even longer. Dr. Folk can even combine your Botox treatment with dermal fillers like Juvéderm®, so you can experience dramatic, longer-lasting anti-aging benefits.

Once you become established with Visage Surgical, Dr. Folk can generally complete your Botox service in less than 15 minutes. This allows you to get the aesthetic treatment you need when retreatment is necessary — no downtime needed — and continue on with your daily activities.
